LYONS, S.D. — Construction is under way on a "shuttle train" grain-loading terminal west of Lyons.
Central Farmers Cooperative CEO Steve Domm says it will be the first terminal in Minnehaha County capable of handling the trains with 110-120 railcars. The $23 million Fremar LLC facility is a joint venture of the co-op and Archers Daniel Midland.
The terminal is to be finished by next September, and Domm tells the Argus Leader (http://argusne.ws/tWIKE0 ) that it's contracting with farmers for 2012 grain deliveries. The facility will have 10 full-time employees working with wheat, corn and soybeans.
The terminal will have four 120-foot-tall storage silos. Work is to begin on those in late November or early December. |
