COLBY (AP) - As part of a water policy plan to conserve and extend the Ogallala Aquifer, Gov. Sam Brownback will sign SB 310, amending the Groundwater Management District Act to provide the authority to create Local Enhanced Management Areas to encourage more local action.

The Northwest Kansas Groundwater Management District and producers from northwest Kansas, as well as throughout the state, were instrumental in the development of this legislation.

The signing will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Colby Community College farm. The farm is 3 miles east of Colby on U.S. Highway 24 and 1 mile north. There is a sign on the highway at the north turn. In the event of inclement weather, the signing will move inside a building at the college farm
