PARSONS - Kansas State University's Southeast Agricultural Research Center (SEARC) will host a Spring Crops Field Day on Tuesday, May 15. The center is immediately south of U.S. Highway 400 on Ness Road (North 32nd Street).
The day begins with registration and a sponsored breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m., with the program following. Presentations and presenters include:
. Tour of Wheat Variety Plots (26 varieties) - Allan Fritz, K-State wheat breeder; Kelly Kusel, SEARC research assistant; and seed company representatives;
. Weed Control Update - Doug Shoup, K-State Research and Extension agronomist;
. Future Wheat Research in Kansas - David Frey, Kansas Wheat Commission;
. Tillage Options in Southeastern Kansas:
- Past Research - Dan Sweeney, SEARC soil and water management specialist;
- Vertical Tillage - DeAnn Presley, K-State Research and Extension soil management specialist;
. Using Satellite Imagery for Crop Scouting - Kevin Price, K-State agronomist.
In case of rain, the field day will be held indoors.
