(TOPEKA) – Ranchers, feeders and dairy producers addressed business concerns through policy approved at the Kansas Livestock Association (KLA) Convention, December 3-4 in Wichita. KLA members voted to endorse resolutions dealing with taxes, livestock marketing, transportation issues and water policy, among others.

On flu vaccine list, swine workers should be ‘at least equal’ with Santa

WASHINGTON, D.C. - While acknowledging that, “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus,” the National Pork Producers Council is asking that pork industry workers be given at least equal billing with shopping mall St. Nicks on any priority list of those who should receive the vaccine for the novel H1N1 flu.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Pork Producers Council today commended U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack for his decision to purchase up to $50 million of pork products, which will be used for various federal food programs. The purchase should help struggling pork producers, who have been mired in a 2-year-long economic crisis.
