Seeking nominations for the United Sorghum Checkoff Board

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced positions that will become vacant on the United Sorghum Checkoff Program Board in December 2011.  As organizations in Kansas certified to nominate producers to serve on the Board, the Kansas Grain Sorghum Commission, Kansas Grain Sorghum Producers Association and Kansas Farm Bureau, collectively, are searching for sorghum producers interested in appointment to the United Sorghum Checkoff Board.

KLA Young Stockmen’s Academy meets in Topeka for first installment

TOPEKA - A group of 20 young producers from across the state met in Topeka on Feb. 14 and 15 for the first installment of the 2011 Kansas Livestock Association Young Stockmen’s Academy. Vista from Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health is partnering with the association to host these members for an in-depth look into KLA and the beef industry. The class will participate in four seminars throughout the year, which will be held in various locations across Kansas.
